Also, Teiichi is good for a protag, but still the worst character in this anime. Even the comedic relief is kind of better than him, though it's debatable.

As far as worth as an adaptation goes... it actually wasn't too bad. Wrapping up the story in 12 episodes does hit on the natural development and shows several asspulls, but it's okay done. I mean, plot-and-directoring-wise; animation-wise, VA-wise and music-wise it was fucking perfect.

It's one of those episodes that you can't help but hum along "I know I can kill"... at least when you have enough breath, because laughing too much is usually an impeding task when it comes to other chores like singing.
And you can't help but stop at 07:22 and start writing blog posts, just so that your tortured chest gets a little break. See, maniacal laughter is serious business. You can't just half-ass it. Or half-sides it. One sides to Pluto, one to Uranus is a no-no.

Also, Kaiki narrating is just priceless. In between all the other priceless stuff, this is priceless enough to be pricelessly mentioned.

Well, that was one big "FUCK YOU GO READ THE MANGA".

Best episode in this season, full of everything I loved in the first one. I mean, besides the comedy. That unique brand of comedy was covered in episode 10. As for the first nine... they were pretty lackluster. I mean, yeah, taking a level in badass and all, but... it could have been handled better. Actually, if the second season was 26 episodes with 13 episodes on the war, I could have lived with it. But like that? Meh. I expected sex from the second season, and we got only teasers in that aspect. What was it, a wet dream or two. And we don't even know if Mafuyu feels like fucking Sasha. Guess that's part of the war arc too. I will have to read the manga now for realz.

Though I continue to think that costume redesign works awful on Sasha.

Yura is Character of the Year

There isn't much more that can be said. We expected focus on everyone, with some given to Yura - we got focus only on Yura, but she developed in such a great character, that it was worth it. We expected Karira and Sono to be great characters, but the traits to make them such went towards Yura. Which was worth it.

Yep. This anime was indeed worth it. Now to read the manga for more lesbianism.

What else did I note this episode? Benten got back to Master's side, I'd guess she was just being shy... lol, shy.  Pic related to the left, but I admire Yasaburou's inge... no, simply his sense of what is to be done; because it was not like he thought at all before doing this, it just seemed right to him, there was no need for him to search for this idea, it was his first instinct.
It was great how Master didn't address Yasaburou in the shrine visit scene: a silent approval of his growth, as if Yasaburou is already as good of a tanuki as they get. A sign of graduation as his disciple. Like Benten. Who honored us with some of the cutest expressions of hers in the whole anime.
And, goddamn, Kaisei. She was

so fucking cute. 

The most level-headed of them all, and the token one doing everything the right way. Maybe my favourite character... which says quite a fucking lot when you account for Benten and Yasaburou, whom I associate my own self with.



What can I even say more of the anime as a whole? It was perfect. Loved each of the characters, each of their relations and their talks. Even the secondary ones, and even the background ones. Loved their designs. Loved the art. Loved the direction. Loved the voice actors. Loved the music. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the city. Loved the end.

What I am left with? A fleeting sense of unrest whether Benten is closer in character to me or to the first girl I loved. A fleeting sense of unrest how I shouldn't actually believe I'd be acting exactly like Yasaburou in his situation. And a fleeting sense of unrest that we'll never see a second season.

Ok, that was awful. Practically the whole Goddesses Arc relies heavily on just one scene. The build up who is a goddess and who is not. Everything after it. Doubtless, this was the key scene of everything.

Yet, what? In the anime, it's done badly, with some normal music, skimmed over, with barely any feeling in Katsuragi, and, what's worse, it's slammed in the middle of the episode!

SKIP THAT FUCKING KANON ENDING NOBODY CARES ABOUT KANON YOU BASTARDS, AND GIVE US A GOOD END-OF-THE-EPISODE KEIMA REJECTING CHIHIRO!

Shit. Really, what the fuck was the big idea? That way the focus on this scene is completely lost! Leave the audience to writhe for a week, thinking over this, and greet us next week with the difficulty of Ayumi's reconquest. That's how it should be done. It's obvious that's the way it should happen. What level of executive meddling happened here to botch this in such a spectacular way? What the fuck is going on? Next skip Chihiro grabbing the spare pick, goddammit!
