Such an anime shouldn't typically work, but in this case it's fine cause Kanye is superior and knows that he's superior. Such concentrated incompetence as what the fairies demonstrate I haven't seen in a while (especially Gatou's favourite fairy). In fact, Cirno does look like a genius when compared to them. So it's fun to see them suffer. Except this also means I didn't care at all for the subplot with the princess fairy. But oh well, at least we don't spend too much time on her.

That being said, if they had aired the PV episode first, it'd've improved the overall experience significantly. Unfortunately, this was not the same KyoAni that made Haruhi.

I… think the beginning of the anime was Wel clearing out the Enchanted Forest for the sake of w/e. So I guess we know how this ends.

But I hope they don't oversimplify the transition of power. I do get the opposite side of the coin, after all. Wel is quite the easy to use figure. It's not that the brother is despotic - the lack of resources is just reality in that domain. It's that the villager chief wants to use Wel - and Wel's wealth that Wel demonstrated. This is not a sustainable model. And on the other side of the chain, the king prefers to have the easy to use Wel there, where he is dependent on taking jobs from the king in order to finance his poor otherwise domain. This way he's at the same time establishing somebody who will not conspire against him, and limiting the connections Wel has to others, so that these others can't use Wel, AND ensuring Wel has to come back to the king for jobs instead of running away somewhere to adventure freely. In fact, Kurt is probably the only one in the family who truly knows this part of Wel's nature, as he was the only one who noticed that Wel hided his magic in the past. So of course he'd be the one worried and would try to use Wel to ensure as much independence from the Crown as possible - like the demand for a 50% cut. To begin with, the domain is poor because of geography, not because of mismanagement: it's too far from the trade routes and the danger of the Enchanted Forest makes it really hard to expand or to do any serious new business. It's basically not much more than an outpost. And they lost a lot of men in that expedition in the past which made everything even worse.

Of course, that same beginning of the anime shows what Kurt definitely is not realizing: that Wel is so overpowered that he can actually turn the domain into a profitable one, independent of Wel's adventuring profits. With such powers the domain can actually get much larger, as it's basically a frontier domain. This means that Kurt could probably get part of the newly expanded domain if he plays his cards right.

Anyway, I really liked Kurt's wife.

Re: Best Girl

This is interesting. Best Girl is obviously Best Girl. And just by existing in the same place as HanaKana, she truly highlights all of the problems with HanaKana and why she's worst girl. In just two episodes this compare and contrast was quite enough to give us a nice understanding of HanaKana - and of Best Girl. But, also, the MC is pretty well-adjusted too, isn't he? He obviously stalled on hitting on HanaKana cause he knew there's something wrong. He can (more or less) do what he wants to do. He is more passive in nature, but he knows and accounts for that? He knows he'll be slow to change either way.
What I am saying… isn't pairing him up with Best Girl a waste? Wouldn't it be much more interesting to pair them with the two other characters instead?
See, Best Girl and MC are both… more passive with their own lives. They lack a solid base in terms of what they want to earn money with. They know their inner worlds but are more passive with dealing with the outer world. The other two in comparison are more solid in dealing with the outer world, while a mess with their own feelings - obsessing and avoiding in a manner that reminds me of Nadeko. Doesn't this make them pairing up like that a more boring outcome that will not allow them to learn and to compensate for each other's shortcomings? Going for what is there in the start… no, way before the start, even… instead of a braver grownup x grownup and teen x teen end, or a homo and homo end.
And, most importantly, why am I writing paragraphs of consideration how should a manga end when it has already ended years ago and I can just read it? How did this adaptation even happen if the original run was from 1997 to 2015?

Re: what do pro-piracy advocates actually think

On the side of the companies, they do what the shareholders know to be true and tried methods. Which in fact just artificially prop up an old and dying model. We won this fight in the music space, and now the music market is more accessible than ever.
On the side of the consumers it's loose and uninformed moral arguments that are propagandized by the companies and then regurgitated by everybody else down the line.
On the theoretical side it's about safe investments: second seasons and third seasons of successful franchises, reboots, shows that rely only on name recognition and nothing else, and so on. USA's market has relied on licensing for ages, and is exactly that: few truly new shows. This sort of titles, especially the unimaginative ones, are the ones that are actually hurt by piracy, as is confirmed by all studies on the matter. Major hits and niche titles generally don't see a difference, or see a positive effect from piracy. Japan instead has relied on BD sales, merchandise, and, well, whales. This means that shows that would be hurt by piracy never did well there anyway, or were not produced at all. One season is enough to sell the source material and the merch. However, Western people find that model hard to understand. Americans specifically are used to their own slow moving entertainment that does 10+ seasons of every even mildly successful title, until they've driven it into the mud several times over. So they can't comprehend an industry that isn't hurt, or is even helped by piracy. Thus the moral argument: "because this is how the American legacy industry works, surely that's the only possible choice for the Japanese industry too!"
If there's something that the pro-piracy side does not understand, it's that the Japanese industry is actively moving towards the American model of milking everything under the cash flow from overseas licensing deals. The pro-piracy side remembers what was 5-10 years ago. It's still not there. There's hope. If the American market moves towards selling the source material by using the anime, this movement of the Japanese industry could be reversed too. Besides, the actual creators will fight tooth and nail for their freedom too.

We didn't even see him before the fall. You can say that he doesn't get enough development, but not that he's inconsistent.

-bland story and worldbuilding
The effort at least is non-zero, which puts it above the average for an isekai. This mostly speaks for the low quality of the worldbuilding in the isekai genre. There are some works that put lots of effort in, but the average isekai doesn't really care for the world. Instead, it cares for the main character themselves.

-unnatural dialogue
All of anime is with "unnatural" dialogue.

-awfully executed comedy

-atrocious cgi
Yup. This is the joke. You are not supposed to take the battles seriously.

TL;DR: Arifureta is a comedy, yet you did not like its comedy. This is all you need to say, the rest of the arguments aren't quite there.

Ishuzoku Reviewers

Ishuzoku Reviewers is gleefully and unabashedly positive. Yes, sex-positive... but also just positive overall. Don't expect deep social commentary on sex trafficking and other real life issues that prostitutes encounter. These things are worth talking about... but it's also worth having a simple celebration of life, sex, and the existence of brothels. You too will be drawn by the festive atmosphere and you too will enjoy the diversity of life together with the characters - be it the reviewers or the prostitutes. And, frankly, what more can you want?

That's it. If this is your first encounter of the franchise, that's all you need to know. Go watch it. But, of course, if you've read the manga already, you're wondering why this **** is wasting your time with obvious truths. So, let's say a few words for you too:
While animation is not outstanding, it ain't bad either. It does what it needs to do, translating well the feel of the manga art to moving pictures. Sound design is also in the same category, though the opening and the ending themes must be specifically applauded as great songs that capture the feel of Ishuzoku perfectly. Whatever budget was saved from the animation obviously went into the cast instead. There isn't even one weak performance, with some pretty big names throughout.
But, as far as the process of adaptation goes, the strongest parts are the scriptwriting and the directing. The choice of what to adapt, the timing and pacing of the adaptation, and the way that the adapted manga chapters are EXTENDED with additional (sometimes even lewder) content - these speak volumes of the love with which this anime is created. In fact, this exact effort to round up the chapters' content is what makes the Ishuzoku Reviewers anime a must-see for the manga readers too.
